Howes Oil Keeping It 'Local' With New C-store Brand

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Howes Oil Co. recently launched Local, a new convenience store brand, with the conversion of the Shell-branded Brandon 1st Stop store, according to a report by the Argus Leader. The company plans to convert other stores in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa to the Local brand.

"The backbone of South Dakota is its locally owned and operated businesses," said Howes Oil owner Andy Howes. "The goal of Local is to help these companies not only remain competitive for future generations, but also continue to be strong supporters of their local communities."

New Local stores will be identified by their hometown ZIP codes. The Brandon 1st Stop, located in Brandon, S.C., is now known as Local ZIP 57005.

"We're excited to be partnering with the folks at Brandon 1st Stop and appreciate the opportunity to give consumers options to keep supporting their local economy," Howes added. "That's our No. 1 goal: to keep it local."
