Hess Corp. Named a Best Place to Work in IT

NEW YORK -- Computerworld magazine ranked Hess Corp. No. 78 on its list of the Top 100 best places to work in IT (information technology). Hess was applauded for the travel opportunities it provides its IT employees.

According to the magazine, a Hess IT employee can travel the world, as workers have the opportunity to travel to six continents and implement global technology standards or help to open new offices in places such as Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; London; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Houston.

"For the last 10 years, I worked on the oil exploration and production side [of the business]," Warren Price, Hess' IT manager of service delivery, told the magazine. "Now I'm working in marketing and refining, so I'm experiencing the full value chain and really getting an understanding of how both sides of the business work."

Computerworld also lauded Hess' IT department for its flexibility. For those who shy away from travel or have at-home commitments, the petroleum provider equipped its largest offices with "global telepresence" rooms that provide HD-quality videoconferencing so communication is easy with other employees in far-off lands.
