Gulf Oil to Open Five Central Texas Gas Stations

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Gulf Oil will extend its business to Texas by operating five gas stations in the Austin area, according to an Austin Business Journal report. The company has signed with Texas-based MTG Management to brand the stations. Gulf originated as an oil production company based in Beaumont, Texas more than a century ago, but it left the state decades ago.

"Texans will see many more of our iconic orange disks on fuel stations throughout the state in the near future and we are committed and dedicated to restoring a major presence of the brand in the state," said Rick Dery, Gulf Oil's senior vice president and chief sales and marketing officer.

Gulf is also putting down Texas roots in a sportier manner. Earlier this week, company officials announced its sponsorship of the Texas Rangers Major League Baseball Team.
