Green Oil Raises the Green for Charity

Convenience store chain's donations up 7.3 percent from 2008.

FAIRBURN, Ga. -- Geo. H. Green Oil Inc., based here, recently raised $21,690 for charity in 2009, an increase of 7.3 percent from the previous year.

According to the company, three dedicated, company-operated stores averaged $537 a day for 28 days to achieve some $15,000 of the $21,690 raised for Greater Atlanta's Empty Stocking Fund, Welcome House of Newnan, Ga., and In His Great Name Ministry, Fairburn, Ga.

The balance came from weekly "Silent Auctions" at the Green Oil corporate headquarters with items furnished by vendors, along with a helping hand from a few supportive dealer stores and thousands of customers.

"We are continually astounded by, your compassion and effort in raising great sums of money for area children in need -- through your dedication more than 1,080 children woke up with Christmas toys, clothing, educational material and renewed hope! God bless you all!" said Green Oil owners Ed and Bill Wyatt in a statement to employees.
