Google Wallet Now Accepts All Credit and Debit Cards

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Google Wallet now works with every major U.S. credit and debit card, according to a PYMNTS.com report.

Robin Dua, head of product management for the platform, provided a demonstration of the new mobile wallet technology on the PYMNTS.com website.

Google Wallet previously worked only with cards that operated on the MasterCard payment network issued by Citigroup, the news outlet reported.

Now, Google Wallet also accepts Visa, American Express and Discover cards.

According to the news source, Google also added a remote disable feature to its mobile wallet intended to provide enhanced security if a smartphone is lost or stolen.

Recently, many companies have entered the mobile wallet space. Competing with Google are Isis, which combines the efforts of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon; Square; PayPal; Microsoft; Starbucks; and more.
