Initially, retailers with Gilbarco's Passport point-of-sale solution will be able to use PayPal's mobile wallet payment system. In the future, PayPal solutions will be added to Gilbarco's suite of media and merchandising applications.

"The PayPal mobile solution will be a cornerstone of our suite of retail applications." The collaboration enables retailers to communicate more effectively with customers and simplifies the way people pay for fuel and purchase in-store items, both companies noted in a statement.

Greensboro, N.C.-based Gilbarco Veeder-Root offers a broad range of integrated solutions for c-store retailers.
