Fresh & Easy School Program Raises More Than $130K

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Kindergarten through eighth grade schools in California, Nevada and Arizona raised $131,145 through Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market’s"Shop for Schools" program.

In all, 86 schools in Arizona, 322 in California and 86 in Nevada participated in the pilot program. In addition to the money raised by each school, the top-performing school in each state received an additional $5,000 from Fresh & Easy.

Kindergarten through eighth-grade schools, located within a three-mile radius of any Fresh & Easy store, were welcome to participate in the program. The inaugural Shop for Schools program allowed schools that registered to receive a $1 cash donation for every $20 spent at a local Fresh & Easy store from Feb. 1 through March 31.

"In the current economy, our customers are looking for ways to help schools raise much-needed money," said Tim Mason, CEO of Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market. "Our Shop for Schools fundraising program helped raise more than $131,000 for schools for whatever they need most. We’re glad we can help be part of the solution and give back to our neighborhoods."
