Former Petronas CEO Joins ConocoPhillips Board

HOUSTON -- The board of directors of ConocoPhillips elected Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican as a new outside director, effective Dec. 1. Marican's election increases the total number of ConocoPhillips directors to 14, of which 13 are outside directors.

Marican, 58, was president and CEO of the Malaysian national oil company, Petronas, from 1995 to 2010. He was previously senior vice president of finance for Petronas from 1989 to 1995, and a partner in the accounting firm of Hanafiah Raslan and Mohamed (Touche Ross & Co.) from 1980 to 1989.

Marican currently serves as a director of Sembcorp Industries, Sembcorp Marine, Lambert Energy Advisory and Singapore Power. He holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Malaya, and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

ConocoPhillips is an integrated energy company with interests around the world. As of June 30, the Houston-headquartered company had approximately 29,900 employees, $160 billion of assets and $244 billion of annualized revenues.
