Finalists Selected in Shell V-Power "Fuel My Passion" Contest

HOUSTON -- The finalists in the Shell V-Power "Fuel My Passion" contest were selected by experts at Car and Driver, Road & Track and Cycle World magazines. Now, Shell is inviting Americans to choose the ultimate automotive enthusiasts who will drive away with the grand prize -- a year's worth of free Shell V-Power premium gasoline.

One grand-prize winner per contest category, based on vehicle type, will be selected. The finalists, which span both coasts, represent a wide array of automotive enthusiasts. Among them are a sports car lover who thinks Shell V-Power is like an energy drink for their ride; a luxury car owner who looks to match the sophistication of their engine with a fuel technology of its own; and a classic car owner who will only fill their "baby" with Shell V-Power.

The finalists were selected from entries received July 6-27. Shell asked people across the U.S. who are passionate about what they drive to enter the contest by submitting a photo of themselves and their ride, along with a few sentences about how Shell V-Power premium gasoline fuels that passion. Entries were solicited in five categories based on different vehicle types.

Editors-in-Chief Matt DeLorenzo from Road & Track, Eddie Alterman from Car and Driver and Mark Hoyer from Cycle World helped narrow down the entries to the top three finalists in each category. All runner-ups will receive a $500 Shell V-Power gift card.

Shell is also giving voters the chance to win their own prize of a $50 Shell V-Power gift card. Starting this week until Aug. 30, any U.S. resident over the age of 18 who casts a vote will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of four $50 Shell V-Power gift cards that will be awarded daily. Votes are being accepted once per day and per category at www.shell.us/fuelmypassion.

"For the second year in a row, Shell is rewarding customers who have made Shell V-Power America's best-selling premium gasoline with a chance to win great prizes," stated Meg Love, Shell V-Power brand manager at Shell Oil Products US. "Many of our contestants really translated their enthusiasm for Shell V-Power premium fuel into wonderful entries, and these finalists definitely stood out. We are now looking for people across America to cast their final votes to help determine the grand-prize winners. And anyone who votes is automatically entered for a chance to win a $50 Shell V-Power Gift Card every day they vote."

One lucky sweepstakes winner also will be chosen at random from all entries to receive their choice between a brand new Audi S5 or Q7, or a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Limited motorcycle and five years of Shell V-Power. All of the contest winners and the one sweepstakes winner will be revealed on Sept. 8, according to the company.
