Favorite Markets Still a Favorite

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Favorite Markets was selected as the winner in the large-company division of the prestigious Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics by officials of the Better Business Bureau serving northwest Georgia and southeast Tennessee, the company reported.

Favorite Markets is owned by Calfee Co. of Dalton Inc. and operates 113 convenience stores throughout Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama. The company also owns and operates the 21-store Com-Pac convenience store chain in the Mobile, Ala., area.

“I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of our company and our people,” said Sam Turner, president and CEO of Calfee of Dalton. “One of our corporate goals has always been to continually practice and demonstrate high ethical standards of behavior to all our employees, customers, vendor partners and the communities in which our people live. I have always thought we were successful, but to be publicly recognized by the Better Business Bureau is a great honor.”

Companies nominated for the Torch Awards are judged on many factors, including the company's having a long-standing reputation of honest and fair practices; company policies that give long-term value to the customers, employees and vendor partners in the various communities; and training programs in place to help employees in carrying the Bureau's established ethics policies.
