E-Cigarette Product Gets New Name

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- An electronic cigarette company is changing the name of one of its products at the request of Philip Morris USA.

According to V2 Cigs, a manufacturer of e-cigarettes based in Florida, the company received letters from Philip Morris USA asking to change the name and imagery of its Cowboy flavor. V2 Cigs said in a release that Philip Morris USA objected because it infringed upon and diluted the Marlboro trademark.

V2 Cigs renamed the Cowboy product V2 Red and the imagery now depicts a motorcyclist riding into the sunset, the company explained. The company's products also come in vanilla, coffee, menthol and peppermint; however, Jay Meistrell, a senior executive at V2 Cigs, said the product known now as V2 Red is the most popular.
