Duke Convenience Group to Provide Foodservice Solutions

LAKE MARY, Fla. -- Convenience store customers in Florida may begin noticing new retail designs in the marketplace over the next few months thanks to the formation of Duke Convenience Group (DCG).

This new operating division of Duke Manufacturing was formed in January 2003, when Larry Miller, president of Retail Management & Design (RMD) and his management team met with Jack Hake, president of Duke Manufacturing. The result, DCG, leverages the creative design and consulting expertise of RMD, with the engineering, flexible manufacturing, foodservice experience, and global support network of Duke Manufacturing.

Miller assumes leadership of the group as vice president and general manager. DCG plans to represent the positive evolution of the business relationship that has existed between the two companies for the past four years, he said.

Not only will DCG be able to offer their clients the convenience of one-source shopping for equipment and design services, it will enable synergistic opportunities to implement new foodservice retailing concepts, services and experiences. "Now we can consult, design and implement, innovative customer focused solutions, with industry leading speed and flexibility," Miller said.

DCG plans a three tier "Go To Market" marketing approach, which will leverage the strengths of both firms, and bring growth, innovation and convenience to their customers, channel partners and food purveyors in the convenience retailing industry, Miller said. The company plans to begin implementing the strategy immediately.
