FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- The New England Convenience Store Association (NECSA) awarded Cumberland Farms store managers prizes for operations, customer service and leadership as part of the c-store industry's highest regional honors, the company announced.

"I take great pride in knowing our talented team of people have been recognized by their peers for their good work," said Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms retail division. "Our managers and their customer service associates are the face and future of Cumberland Farms, working hard to ensure that customers get in, out, and happily along with their day."

Linda Calver, manager of the Cumberland Farms store in Leicester, Mass. won first place as 2010 NECSA Store Operator of the Year; Dan Canova of Deep River, Conn. won the NECSA Customer Service Award; Julie Gerundio of West Warwick, R.I. won the NECSA Leadership Award; and Roy Horsfield of Halifax, Mass. won the NECSA Retail Operations Award.

NECSA holds its annual contest to determine the store managers, franchisees and independent owners who are the best convenience store operators in the Northeast. A panel of judges composed of retailers and suppliers drive approximately 5,300 miles and spend around 600 hours evaluating the 50-75 nominated operators and their stores, the company said.
