CSNews Editor-in-Chief Recognized at Azbee Awards

Don Longo

CHICAGO – On the heels of winning top honors for Best Issue in the prestigious Jesse H. Neal Awards earlier this year, Convenience Store News added another journalism award to its trophy case last week when Editor-in-Chief Don Longo picked up a Bronze award for Best Editorial/Editor’s Letter at the regional Azbee Awards reception.

Administrated by the American Society of Business Press Editors (ASBPE), the Azbee Awards recognize the hard work and commitment of business-to-business and professional magazine, newsletter and web editors and designers.

“Such an award is a most prestigious acknowledgement that your work has met high standards of excellence and is at the top of your profession,” according to ASBPE. “The Society’s contest is extremely competitive and one of the largest U.S. business publication competitions.”

Longo’s award-winning editorial, “VIEWPOINT: Real Leadership Is More Than a Pithy Catchphrase,” appeared in the July 2, 2012 issue of Convenience Store News.

In March, CSNews was honored at the 59th annual Jesse H. Neal Awards ceremony, where the October 2012 issue of Convenience Store News won the Best Single Issue category for publications with annual advertising revenues between $3 million and $7 million. It marked the second time that the CSNews editorial staff had taken home a Neal Award for Best Single Issue of a Magazine. In 2008, the publication's October 2007 issue earned the top honor.

CSNews was also one of four finalists recognized in the Best Profile category for its August 2012 "A Day in the Life of Maverik Inc." cover story. Established in 1955, the Jesse H. Neal Awards are presented by ABM, the Association of Business Information & Media Companies.
