NEW YORK -- Convenience store retailer Hess Corp. will accept Discover Card's Discover Zip contactless payment devices at more than 870 locations in the eastern U.S. by the end of this year, according to a report by Consumer Loan Wire.
Discover Zip allows customers to make purchases by touching the Zip device on a Zip reader. The Zip can be issued on a bankcard or small key chain, as well as a small adhesive card that can be attached to personal items, such as a cell phone, PDA, or iPod, according to the report.
"Customers value the flexibility and control that Zip payment devices offer," Farhan Ahmad, general manager, prepaid and director of emerging payments for Discover. "Merchants and issuers also appreciate the point-of-sale efficiencies afforded by the ZIP technology. It's a win-win for those on both sides of the cash register."
