Wilson Farms, Reid Petroleum to Launch Second E85 Fuel Station

LOCKPORT, N.Y. -- One year to the day after the launch of their first E85 fuel location, Wilson Farms and Reid Petroleum will mark another environmental milestone Friday, with the joint launch of western New York's second E85 fuel station, at the Wilson Farms store at 95 South Transit Rd. here.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. will mark the occasion, followed by comments from Wilson Farms CEO and President Paul Nanula, and Reid Petroleum President Paul Quebral, as well as local dignitaries who will be attending the event.

"It is an honor for Wilson Farms to once again be a part of this moment in environmental history as E85 has been proven to pose less risk to our environment by reducing carbon-dioxide emissions, a harmful greenhouse gas," Nanula stated.

To date, there are only five other E85 locations in the New York area. The first E85 fuel dispenser was launched in the Buffalo region Nov. 6, 2008, at the Wilson Farms store on Ruie Road in North Tonawanda, N.Y.

Quebral added: "For both environmental and economic reasons, there is an increasing number of flex-fuel vehicles on the road throughout the U.S., including in western New York. Reid Petroleum has been supplying motor fuels throughout western New York since 1922, and it is important that we provide E85 now as an option for this growing sector of customers. We are especially pleased to be doing so again, at the second location with our partners at Wilson Farms."

E85 is motor fuel blending 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. It is an alternative fuel that not only shows superior performance characteristics and burns cleaner than gasoline, but it is also a completely renewable, domestic, environmentally friendly fuel that enhances the nation's economy and energy independence, the companies noted.
