7-Eleven Taps Private Label Exec

November 24, 2009 - DALLAS – 7-Eleven promoted Tom Gerrity to the role of senior product director for private label products, where he will oversee product development across all categories in the store for the convenience store chain's growing 7-Select line of products.

Gerrity, who previously supervised the grocery category for the retailer, led 7-Eleven Inc.'s foray into private-label packaged food. The company's Private Label Summit, which was recently held in Dallas, was Gerrity's idea, according to 7-Eleven.

"Establishing this key role in the organization supports our commitment to develop a best-in-class private-label program with products to meet the needs of our customers and franchisees," Kevin Elliott, senior vice president of merchandising and logistics, said in a statement. "Tom has the breadth of merchandising experience with 7-Eleven to take on this important fast-emerging opportunity."

Gerrity joined the company in 1981 as a management trainee in St. Louis, and served in a variety of roles since then, including field consultant, field merchandiser and human resources manager. He moved to the category management team 18 years ago and led the tobacco merchandising category, and later was promoted to senior product director for non-foods and director of supply/logistics.

Before 7-Eleven, Gerrity was a category manager/buyer for Venture Stores and Target, with general merchandise and private-label responsibilities.
