SALINA, Kan. -- Casey's General Stores will buy the three Green Lantern convenience stores here, reported the Salina Journal.
The deal is set to close Dec. 9, with no immediate changes planned for the three stores, according to William Walljasper, Casey's chief financial officer.
"Once we close on the acquisition, we will run those as Green Lanterns," Walljasper told the Journal. "At some time in the future, we will add our prepared food operation."
Green Lantern was started by Salina resident Charlie Walker. Walker also founded Blue Beacon truck washes, which operate in more than 100 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
This year is special for Convenience Store News, as it marks the 40th year of publication, making it the longest continuously published news source for the convenience store industry.
