ANCHORAGE -- The world's longest snowmobile race, the Iron Dog -- lost the commitment of Tesoro Corp. as title sponsor for the 2010 race, The Associated Press reported, citing Iron Dog executive director Laura Bedard.
Bedard called the decision disappointing in the report, but added race officials were grateful to Tesoro for the long partnership.
The 2,000-mile Iron Dog has ran for 26 years and is scheduled to begin Feb. 21, in Big Lake and end Feb. 27, in downtown Fairbanks, the report stated.
The race bills itself as the world's longest, toughest snowmobile race, according to the AP. Todd Palin, husband of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, won the race four times.
