Competitive Watch: Dunkin' Donuts Promotes 99-Cent Lattes

February 04, 2009 - CANTON, Mass. -- Dunkin' Donuts’ small lattes will be available for 99 cents at all participating shops throughout the New York tri-state area.

Participating locations include those in the following counties:

-- New York: Bronx, Dutchess, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester.

-- New Jersey: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren.

-- Connecticut: Fairfield.

The 99-cent lattes are available in all flavor varieties, including new Mocha Raspberry Swirl, and can be purchased hot or iced. This offer is part of the new Dunkin' Donuts "You Kin' Do It" rally cry, launched in January. As the newest iteration of the long-running "America Runs on Dunkin'" campaign, "You Kin' Do It" reminds the everyday people who keep America running that they can tackle any task. The 99-cent Latte component reinforces Dunkin' Donuts' commitment to providing its customers with a high-quality beverage without blowing the lids off their budgets, the chain stated.

In addition, the company is offering, for a limited time starting this week, the new Angel Food Muffin at participating shops in the New York tri-state area. With only 100 calories and containing no fat, the item is the newest addition to Dunkin' Donuts' DDSMART menu of better-for-you products, which was launched last summer.

In other Dunkin’ news, the retailer is debuting a new Waffle Breakfast Sandwich -- a sweet and savory, oven-toasted sandwich featuring cherry-wood smoked bacon, scrambled eggs and American cheese between two maple-infused waffles.

Dunkin' Donuts said it is now the first national quick-service restaurant chain to serve a breakfast sandwich featuring waffles. The sandwich is available through March 17, at participating Dunkin' Donuts shops and has a suggested retail price of $2.99.

All of these menu items benefit from Dunkin' Donuts' recently overhauled cooking platform, launched a year ago, which uses patented technologies to deliver an "Oven-Toasted" result and enhance the taste and quality of both new and existing menu items.
