Couple Ties the Knot at Wawa

ABINGDON, Md. -- In what gives new meaning to the word convenience, Scott Gaddis and Cindy Richardson, appropriately known as the "Wawa couple," decided to tie the knot in the same store they get their coffee every morning.

"Cindy and Scott came to our store and asked our manager if he minded if they got married here. He said, 'We'd be glad to honor you," Hartford County Wawa employee Sandy Galloway told local television station WJZ News.

While they did not meet at Wawa, it is a daily stop for family and friends. "We have always come here since we've been together even when things weren't good. This was kind of neutral ground for us and we would come in and talk and have coffee," Richardson told WJZ News. "We're here everyday, even on our days off. We just got nicknamed the Wawa couple."

Friends and family, some of whom work at the location, did not have to go far after the ceremony, which was held on July 4, as the reception took place at what forever will be their favorite Wawa store.

In other unusual c-store news, Kent Couch, a Bend, Ore., gas station owner, succeeded over the weekend in his third attempt to fly from central Oregon to Idaho. However, he wasn't in a plane or a helicopter. Couch's mode of transport was 150 3-foot-wide helium-filled balloons attached to a lawn chair.

"If I had the time and money and people, I'd do this every weekend," Couch, a hang gliding and sky diving enthusiast, told The Associated Press before taking flight. "Things just look different from up there. You've moving so slowly. The best thing is the peace, the serenity."

In total, he flew 230 miles which surpassed his 2006 record of 193 miles. "He's crazy," Couch's wife Susan told the AP. "It's never been a dull moment since I married him."
