Convenience Store News Takes Home the Silver

NEW YORK -- Convenience Store News, the convenience store industry's No. 1 source for news, information and analysis, won two Silver Eddie awards in the 2011 Eddie & Ozzie Award competition, sponsored by Folio: magazine. The awards were presented during the annual Eddie & Ozzie Awards luncheon, held yesterday at the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan's Times Square.

From among more than 2,000 entries, CSNews won second prize for Best Full Issue in the Business-to-Business/Retail category for its October 2010 issue, and another second prize for Best Single Story, also in the Business-to-Business/Retail category for its October 2010 cover story entitled, "Constant Reinvention Propels Sheetz."

The 200-plus-page winning issue was notable for its exclusive and in-depth articles on major retailers such as Sheetz, Cumberland Farms, QuikTrip and Wawa, as well as topical reports on the latest technology innovations, product category developments and consumer trends impacting the convenience industry.

The Best Single Story was a 12-page cover story package by senior editor Barbara Grondin Francella, which provided readers with an inside look at Sheetz, one of the most forward-thinking convenience store chains in the world.

The annual Eddie & Ozzie awards program -- spanning all corners of the magazine publishing industry -- recognizes the very best in editorial and design. It's the largest and most inclusive awards program of its kind in the industry.

This is not the first time that CSNews has been selected for honors by the FOLIO: awards program. In 2009, the magazine won three awards: the Gold Ozzie Award for Best Use of Illustration, the Silver Eddie Award for Best Full Issue and the Bronze Eddie Award for Best Retail Website.

Last year, CSNews took home a Silver Azbee Award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors and an Honorable Mention Tabbie Award from the Trade Association Business Publications International (TABPI).

In 2008, CSNews won the Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Award for Best Single Issue of the Year.
