Convenience Store News Honored for Editorial Excellence

NEW YORK -- Convenience Store News magazine received the bronze award at Tuesday night’s Eddie awards for editorial excellence, presented by Folio: magazine. The VNU publication was presented with the award in the category of B2B: Retail.

"It’s a great honor for the entire CSNews team," said executive editor Mike Browne. "We’re just very proud to see all of our hard work being recognized." CSNews also won the gold in this category in 2003.

The Eddies are open to all magazines -- consumer, B2B, associations and online. This is a unique competition in which magazines are evaluated against their own mission statement, rather than against the competition. Entrants are judged on how well they fulfill their mission statements, the quality of their content and how the overall design and production supports their mission.

According to Folio:, the 2005 judging process was intense -- over 90 industry experts reviewed more than 1,600 submissions; 227 finalists were selected across the 76 categories for B-to-B, Consumer, Association, Institutional, Non-Profit and Online.

"We were really impressed with both the amount of entries as well as the quality of the entries. It is truly amazing to see such excellence within the magazine industry not only from publications that have been around for many years, but also from the brand new magazines on the block. You can see the passion and dedication just by reading the entry forms and mission statements," said event director Amy Zucchi.

The winners were announced at the Folio: Show Awards Gala at the New York Hilton.
