ConocoPhillips Awards $45,000 in Scholarships, Prizes

HOUSTON -- ConocoPhillips Co. said it has awarded more than $45,000 in scholarships and prizes to talented college students competing in the My 76 Video contest.

Entrants created original video commercials for the 76 gasoline brand. The top three entries were awarded scholarships worth $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000, respectively, to be used for educational purposes at an accredited college, university or film school. In addition, 20 runners up won 76 brand gasoline certificates valued at $500.

Students from West Coast universities submitted entries and a panel of qualified judges selected the winners, Conoco explained in a statement released last week. The public was invited to vote for their favorite video entries for The People Have Spoken Award, and enter to win one of four $500 76-brand gasoline certificates.

The winning videos may be made into 30-second TV commercials to air on FOX Sports Net or other major networks. All the videos can be viewed at www.my76video.com.

"The 76 brand is widely recognized as a quality gasoline that helps to maximize mileage and reduce emissions," Matthew Selbie, manager, brand management, ConocoPhillips, said in the company's statement. "The opportunity to combine a superior fuel with the fresh perspective of messages created by the film makers of tomorrow is exciting. We congratulate the winners and wish them success."

The 76 brand is one of three U.S. gasoline brands of ConocoPhillips Co. 76-branded gasoline is sold at more than 1,900 retail fuel sites in the United States.
