Conoco Gets Technical

HOUSTON
Conoco Inc. reached an agreement with Atlanta-based Radiant Systems to deploy the Radiant point-of-sale (POS) site-level management systems and centralized pricebook in the oil company's "Jet" and "Jiffy" branded convenience stores overseas.

Conoco, which has plans to grow to 300 to 500 retail sites in Central and Eastern Europe over the next four years, began deploying Radiant's retail solutions in the Czech Republic and Poland in 1996. The most recent deal covers Slovakia.

"We are driven to deliver to our customers the best value proposition in the industry," said Rodd Pearcy, general manager of retail marketing for Conoco Central and Eastern Europe. "Radiant's solutions not only help us provide better and faster customer service, but also ensure that our merchandising department is optimizing our product offering and pricing strategy in our stores."
