Citgo Reaches Deal with Pinnacle

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Pinnacle Corp. announced the certification of its Palm Point of Sale software on Citgo Petroleum Corp.'s payment card network provided by Alliance Data Systems.

"Certification of the Palm gives Citgo retailers further access to the industry's premier point-of-sale (POS) technologies," said Tom Oare, manager of payment card operations at Citgo. "As Citgo does not operate its own retail outlets, it must rely on its marketers for direction on POS system development. The encouragement to complete this interface was strong. Citgo is now in the beta-test phase with Palm moving towards a full release later this quarter."

Palm POS is a 32-bit in-store point-of-sale system specifically designed for the convenience store and petroleum industries. In addition to its Citgo certification, Palm is already certified on the Exxon, Conoco and Phillips 66 networks. Phillips Tosco Corp. and Exxon Mobil Corp. network interfaces are currently in development.

"The completion of the Citgo interface represents one of our most important recent projects," said Pinnacle President Bob Johnson. "Our commitment is for Palm to provide the convenience store industry's most expansive set of credit network interfaces in an open architecture environment. Our certification on the CITGO network reflects our continued execution against that important strategic goal."

Running under the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems, Palm utilizes scanning and touch screen technology, eliminating the need for an external keyboard. Palm's intuitive graphical user interface makes it easy to learn, reducing training time significantly, Johnson said. Palm is also compatible with most fuel dispensing equipment and dispenser card readers.
