Casey's, Kum & Go Open New Stores in Same Town on Same Day

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Casey's General Stores and Kum & Go truly went head to head in Sioux City last week when both convenience store chains opened new stores in the same neighborhood on the same day, according to a Sioux City Journal report. Both Morningside-area locations opened their doors for the first time on Thursday, Oct. 20.

The new Casey's store was built on a former restaurant site on Gordon Drive and Stone Avenue near Western Iowa Tech Community College. It is approximately 1,000 square feet larger than the company's older store models.

The new Kum & Go, located at Morningside Avenue and S. Lakeport Street, replaced an older store down the road. The store offers 1,000 square feet of interior space and increased the amount of parking and number of gas pumps, according to the report.

Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey's currently operates more than 1,600 locations in the Midwest, while Kum & Go made this year's Inc. 5000 list of the 5,000 fastest-growing privately held companies in the United States.
