Casey's Gas Sales Dip in June

ANKENY, Iowa -- Casey's General Stores Inc., operator of more than 1,500 convenience stores headquartered here, saw same-store gasoline sales fall in June, while same-store sales of food, grocery and other merchandise rose, reported The Associated Press, citing a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In June, same-store gasoline gallons sold slipped 0.4 percent compared to June 2006. Meanwhile, same-store sales of grocery and other merchandise increased 8.7 percent, and prepared food and fountain same-store sales increased 8 percent, the report stated.

While gallons sold fell, the chain did see gasoline margins above the company's fiscal 2008 goal of 10.7 cents per gallon.
