Casey's Funds Additional Honor Flight

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Casey's General Stores is funding a second Honor Flight, which will allow an additional 150 veterans to make the trip from Iowa to the World War II Memorial, area television station KCCI 8 Des Moines reported.

"Casey's General Stores has done a tremendous job of showing their appreciation for what these WWII Veterans have done," said Jeff Ballenger, chairman of the Central Iowa Honor Flight Committee, adding both organizations have increased their efforts to move quickly to implement the organizational details for the second flight.

The big picture of getting the veterans to Washington, D.C., must be balanced with the details of organizing a safe and successful flight, officials said in the report.

Ballenger said he and the committee are proud to be partners with such a community- minded corporate citizen as Casey's General Stores, and also with such a wonderful project.

"We are giving up one day to say 'thank you' for a lifetime of freedom," he said.
