Casey's Building Bigger, New-Format Store In Missouri

Meanwhile, Wawa opens 6,100-square-foot site in Pennsylvania.

NEOSHO, Mo. -- Casey's General Stores' new location here will open late this spring or early summer, according to a report in the Neosho Daily News.

The new convenience store is part of Casey's new store format program, measuring and will measure 3,700 square feet, some 1,000 square feet larger than a typical Casey's store, according to the report. The site will feature eight quad-unit pump islands and sell diesel fuel.

Inside, the store will feature a slate floor and cherrywood finishes, according to the newspaper. The site will be equipped with a seating area and a 14-door cooler section, compared to the standard nine doors.

"We have about 75 of these [new store formats] up right now and they've been very well received by our customers," Bill Walljasper, CFO of Casey's General Stores Inc., told the newspaper.

The store will serve made-to-order sub sandwiches and an expanded coffee bar, including iced coffee.

"It will have obviously your regular and your decaffeinated products, but it will also have Columbian and Kona, hazelnut and a wide variety of others," Walljasper told the newspaper. "Plus you'll have flavored creamers [and] flavored syrups."

Across the country in Pennsylvania, Wawa Inc. opened its newest location in Phoenixville, Pa., according to The Phoenix newspaper. Wawa's Vice President of Supply Chain Jim Bluebello cut the ceremonial ribbon Friday, marking the official opening of the new store.

To illustrate Wawa's commitment to our communities, the ribbon-cutting was followed by a Hoagies for Heroes hoagie-building contest to benefit local charities, the newspaper noticed.

The new Phoenixville location, which employs 30 people, features Wawa's new store design prototype, including 6,100 square feet of retail space and 20 gasoline pumps.
