Valero Adds Regional Sales Managers
Valero Energy Corp., operator of 2,000 Valero and Diamond Shamrock convenience stores, has added three new regional sales managers, Paul Moyer, Jr., Ted Xavier and Glenn Zomack, to introduce the Valero wholesale brand to the East Coast market. They will report to Greg Kaneb, vice president of Valero's Northeast/Southeast Region Wholesale Division.
Valero is expanding its branded wholesale network to the East Coast for the first time, aggressively marketing its Valero brand to jobbers throughout the Eastern United States. As part of its rebranding efforts, the company will be picking up the base conversion costs for sites that qualify for the Valero brand and will be offering regionally driven incentives aimed at competing with major brands.
Unocal Shuffles Board
Refiner Unocal Corp. said that its board of directors has elected Ferrell McClean to serve as an independent member of the board. The board also elected John W. Creighton as vice chairman.
Ashland Adds VP
Ashland Inc., an operator of Speedway SuperAmerica LLC and the maker of Valvoline motor oil, named Daniel Huffman its vice president of finance.
Fleming Appoints CFO
Grocery distributor Fleming Cos. Inc. has named Mark Shapiro as its chief financial officer, the company said last week. Shapiro replaces current CFO Neal Rider, who was named to the new position of executive vice president, business and operations development.
McLane Exec. to Retire
Neil McCarty, executive vice president of information systems for McLane Co. Inc., a Temple, Texas-based food logistics company, will retire from the company at the end of January 2003.
Food for Thought
Jeanette Sprague was appointed vice president of operations of Belleisle Creek, New Brunswick-based Belleisle Foods Ltd. The Canadian foodservice company said the addition will help it expand its commitment to providing gourmet foods to the retail industry.
Maarten Kruijtzer was named director of national on premise accounts for White Plains, N.Y.-based Heineken USA.
Blue Rhino Appoints President
Blue Rhino Corp., a leading national provider of branded propane cylinder exchange announced the appointment of Tim Scronce as president, responsible for Blue Rhino's cylinder exchange operations. Billy Prim, who had held that title since January 1996, remains chairman and CEO.
