BP's ampm Offers Twofer on Tea

LA PALMA, Calif. -- BP’s ampm convenience store division is offering a two for $2 promotion for its Essence ready-to-drink tea line in the company's western U. S. markets, through the end of June, where customers can experience a duo of the four new brews, the company reported.

The Essence teas, which are slated to launch in eastern U.S. marketing areas in September, are the latest in a line of exclusive ampm beverages launched over the past two years. A single 20-ounce bottle carries a suggested retail price of $1.49.

BP's ampm also sells four other proprietary bottled beverages—Deluge Spring Water, Deluge Sport drinks, Unbound energy drinks, and Deluge Plus vitamin+antioxidant waters.

"The Essence teas are a natural progression in the evolution of drinks exclusive to ampm," said Andrew Baird, BP’s vice president of marketing for convenience retail. "Ready-to-drink tea sales were among the fastest growing subcategories of packaged beverages in our stores. In addition, our fountain sales of the Essence green tea were strong, indicating a market ripe for a beverage with natural, premium ingredients."

Essence teas are available in four flavors—green tea with ginseng and honey; white tea with lemon; black tea with peach; and black tea with raspberry. They are all-natural and are steeped with green, white or black tea leaves in the production process to ensure a natural flavor from the tea solids, and are sweetened with cane sugar not high-fructose corn syrup, resulting in a beverage that is less than 100 calories per serving, according to the company.

Additionally, the green and white teas contain vitamin C and EGCG, a natural antioxidant.
