BP's Amoco Ultimate Promotion to Give Away "Gas for Life"

Chicago -- BP will launch its “Gold Standard” promotion June 1 to reward consumers who purchase Amoco Ultimate premium fuel at participating BP locations through Aug. 2.

Gold Standard participants will have the chance to win more than 100,000 gas-related prizes, including five “Gas for Life” grand prizes. To ensure all prizes are claimed by consumers, the promotion includes a second chance to win any unclaimed prizes.

“As summer comes and more people hit the road for cross-country trips and family vacations, we're excited to offer them the opportunity to win great prizes and experience the 'gold standard' of premium fuels -- Amoco Ultimate,” said Barney Shirreffs, U.S. director of fuels product management.

The Gold Standard promotion features a scratch-and-win game card that can be played on-site at participating BP locations by customers who purchase eight or more gallons of Amoco Ultimate in a single visit. To receive the game card, customers are required to show a valid receipt to their cashier upon date of purchase. BP customers are eligible to play the Gold Standard promotion each time they purchase the required amount of Amoco Ultimate during the promotion period. Customers who received non-winning cards will have a second chance to win by visiting www.BPgoldstandard.com beginning June 1. Customers can also request a game card by mail.

The promotion will be supported with a national marketing campaign that includes on-site POP materials at all participating locations and radio advertisements, billboards and professional site greeters in select markets.

Grand prize winners will be awarded one $1,200 Amoco Ultimate prepaid gas card (or equivalent chosen by sponsor) beginning in 2005 and continuing each year for 50 years. Other consumer prizes include: one $1,200 Amoco Ultimate prepaid gas card for one year from BP (25 first-prize winners); $10 Amoco Ultimate prepaid gas card (1,000 second-prize winners); and a $5 Amoco Ultimate prepaid gas card (100,000 third-prize winners).
