QuikTrip Among 50 Best Workplaces in Texas

TULSA, Okla. — QuikTrip Corp. was named to the Best Workplaces in Texas list by Fortune. The convenience store chain, which has a major presence in Dallas, ranked No. 15 on this year's list of the top 50 workplaces.

Created in partnership with Great Place to Work, the rankings are based on feedback from more than 100,000 employees at Great Place to Work–certified organizations that have locations in Texas. The anonymous Trust Index survey included questions about how frequently they experienced behaviors that create a great workplace, such as the respect with which people are treated regardless of their roles; the opportunities for professional development; and connection they feel as a team. Survey results have a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of 5 percent or less.

Tulsa, Okla.-based QuikTrip has 20,460 U.S. employees.

"QuikTrip creates a family-like atmosphere among co-workers better than any business I have ever seen. Six years ago my family and I lost everything in a house fire," said one QuikTrip employee. "I was told that I could take off as much time as needed to get everything taken care of and members of a specific team here put together a fundraiser breakfast that raised over $1,600 in one morning. That's not to mention the unbelievable amount of other items that were donated."

The Best Workplaces rankings honor organizations where employees experience a great place to work and where those experiences are highly consistent, regardless of gender, ethnicity, job role or other personal characteristics. Results are considered based on the complexity of the employee population and relative to peer performance, according to the report.

"QuikTrip values its employees' opinions," said a survey participant. "We use resource groups to change or discuss any changes needed. Just the fact that QT gets all areas together to identify problems and find solutions is very unique."
