Kroger Earns Recognition by Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

CINCINNATI — For the fifth consecutive year, The Kroger Co. secured membership in the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's (USHCC) Million Dollar Club, which recognizes corporations that are leaders in supplier diversity and integrating Hispanic Business Enterprises into their strategic sourcing and procurement processes.

Introduced by USHCC in 2010, corporations qualify for the Million Dollar Club by spending between $25 million to more than $500 million with Hispanic suppliers in the previous year. Kroger was inducted in the $250-million to $500-million annual expenditure category. 

"Kroger is honored to be selected as a Million Dollar Club member," said Reuben Shaffer, Kroger's chief diversity officer. "We value our partnerships with diversity-owned suppliers because their products and services meet the needs of our customers, and because their businesses provide employment opportunities in our local communities."

Kroger has been a leader in supplier diversity in all aspects of its business for more than 30 years. The retailer currently spends nearly $2 billion annually with diversity businesses. 

Cincinnati-based Kroger operates 785 convenience stores in 19 states, under six banners: Kwik Shop, Loaf N' Jug, Quik Stop Markets, Tom Thumb Food Stores, Turkey Hill Minit Markets and Smith's Express.
