ST LOUIS -- As part of a six-year, multi-sport agreement with NBC, Anheuser-Busch (AB) has gained an exclusive alcohol category position in the nation's most watched sporting event, the National Football Leagues, Super Bowl for the next six years.
In addition to the Super Bowl, AB will be the exclusive alcohol advertiser in NBC broadcasts for the Ryder Cup and President's Cup through 2011, as well as a sponsor for the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness through 2010.
"Advertising during the Super Bowl is a perfect fit for a company like ours. The Super Bowl is a holiday that combines sports and entertainment, and watching the ads has become a fun part of the evening for many of the game's 90 million viewers," said August A. Busch IV, president of Anheuser-Busch, in a written statement.
The AB ads also allow the company to continue its advertising off the field. After the 2006 Super Bowl, the AB ads were viewed an additional 21 million times on the Internet and downloaded more than 300,000 times from the brands Web sites.
In addition to NBC's coverage, AB has signed deals for Super Bowls in 2007 and 2010 with CBS and Super Bowls 2008 and 2011 on the FOX network.
