Aloha Petroleum Introduces Cleaner Gas Blend

HONOLULU -- Aloha Petroleum has introduced a "top tier" gasoline approved by four major automakers to the Hawaii market.

According to Pacific Business News, the retailer secured the certification recently for its PowerTech branded gas by adding detergents to all its gasoline grades to make the fuel burn cleaner. This classification is higher than the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's current requirements.

Aloha is one of 14 brands nationally with this certification that BMW, General Motors, Honda, and Toyota support. Other Hawaii retailers with the certification include Chevron, Union 76 and Shell.

Larry Adams, Aloha's marketing director, said the company is absorbing the cost of the additives.

Aloha Petroleum / Island Mini-Mart consists of over 30 company-operated convenience store and gasoline facilities. Aloha Petroleum has nearly 80 retail locations on the island of Oahu and the Big Island.

The company also provides fuel to several hundred commercial and wholesale customers along with federal, state and city governmental accounts.
