AAFES to Get New Scanning Technology

DALLAS -- The Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) signed a contract with DigiPoS Store Solutions to replace its scanning technology, the company reported.

DigiPoS will begin shipping the Datalogic 2300HS units in April 2009, and recycle the old scanners in compliance with environmental programs to reduce electronic scrap and hazardous equipment, ensuring they are disposed of in an environmentally sound manner, according to the company.

"We are very pleased to have an ongoing successful partnership with AAFES," Mark Leaper, president of DigiPoS Store Solutions, said in a statement. "We are dedicated to servicing their needs whether it is for systems or peripherals. DigiPoS is committed to the stability and reliability of their checkouts, knowing how important the exchange service is to the troops and their families. We look forward to continuing to meet their needs in future projects."

DigiPoS has supplied several thousand Retail Blade point-of-sale systems and back-office servers in an on-going effort to support AAFES' retail technology requirements, and the Datalogic in-counter scanner with sapphire glass, serial cable with power over USB and a 5-year advanced replacement warranty, will boost the reliability of the current set up, the company reported.
