7-Eleven's 'Coffee Cup with a Cause' Kicks off Through Jan. 3

DALLAS -- 7-Eleven Inc. welcomed its fifth celebrity-designer, actor Will Ferrell, to design a 'Coffee Cup with a Cause' for the company's cause-marketing campaign. Ferrell's winter season design helps benefit Cancer for College, a California-based charity that provides academic scholarships to cancer survivors.

Through Jan. 3 consumers can visit participating 7-Eleven stores across the U.S. and purchase Ferrell's snowman design limited-edition cup while supplies last. Ferrell's personally designed cup can be filled with any 7-Eleven hot beverage, the company stated, and mixed with an assortment of creams, syrups and spices at no additional charge.

"'Coffee Cup With A Cause' allows our customers an opportunity to directly support a cause that can affect so many lives," Rita Bargerhuff, 7-Eleven's vice president and chief marketing officer said in a released statement. "For merely the cost of a cup of coffee, consumers can contribute to the Cancer for College program and ensure that more young people who have had cancer can get a college education."

Since its 1993 inception, Cancer for College has granted more than $1 million in scholarships to more than 800 cancer survivors and amputees. 7-Eleven hopes to increase their $250,000 guaranteed minimum donation by adding in the money from consumers' contribution from purchasing the limited-edition cup.

Other celebrities who have joined forces with 7-Eleven to personally design cups for a cause include: Nicole Richie and Benji and Joel Madden's Richie-Madden Children's Foundation, Jennifer Hudson's Boys and Girls Club of America, John Cena's Make-A-Wish Foundation and Snoop Dogg's Snoop Youth Football League.
