Jesus H. Delgado-Jenkins to lead merchandising, logistics for convenience retailer

Jesus H. Delgado-Jenkins, former owner of MHC Convenience — which operated 16 Mother Hubbard's Cupboard c-stores before being acquired by 7-Eleven earlier this year — was named senior vice president of merchandising and logistics at 7-Eleven Inc.

He joins 7-Eleven Inc. with more than 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, most recently serving as the CEO of JNI LLC, a c-store acquisition firm. Prior to that, he held the position of chief financial officer and deputy chief operating officer for the U.S. Treasury Department.

"Jesus brings a wealth of experience to 7-Eleven," President and CEO Joe DePinto said in a statement. "He will lead two critical areas of our business, and will provide strong thought leadership with a keen focus on store implementation. The addition of Jesus to our team positions us well to advance our strategic priorities and strengthen our brand."

Convenience Store News reported in February of this year that 7-Eleven purchased MHC Convenience. CSNews first featured Delgado-Jenkins in March 2008, shortly after he purchased the chain and was working on resetting the stores with fresh foods.

Delgado-Jenkins possesses significant convenience store and retail experience through a variety of executive roles, such as managing director of Bourbon Street Partners, where he advised clients on merchandising strategy and convenience store acquisitions, according to 7-Eleven. Additionally, Delgado-Jenkins served as vice president at Dominick's Finer Foods, a $3 billion food and drug retailer, and as a consultant to convenience stores and consumer packaged goods companies at Price Waterhouse Consulting.

He holds an undergraduate degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master's of management in marketing, strategy and finance from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

He, his wife Monica and two children will live in the Dallas area.
