7-Eleven Launches 'Slurpee Battle of the Bands' Sequel

DALLAS -- Convenience store operator 7-Eleven Inc. is ready to rock as it yesterday launched the nationwide, second annual "Slurpee Battle of The Bands" contest.

Bands and artists can register on www.slurpee.com until June 20. To enter, bands can submit up to three video or audio performances of original songs. The online competition will give entrants the chance to showcase their talent at one of four regional concerts, while competing for the grand prize of $10,000 plus a recording session in San Francisco at Wolfgang's Vault, according to the company.

"Slurpee is an experience, not just a drink," Evan Brody, 7-Eleven marketing manager for Slurpee and Big Gulp brands said in a statement. "This is another example of a great experience brought to you by the Slurpee brand, in addition to movie promotions, action cups, video game programs and a rewards program through 7-Eleven's Slurpee Nation community."

Three deserving bands will be selected to play at regional events in Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, as opening acts for well-known headliners that will be announced later on Slurpee.com. The concerts will begin mid-July and run to the end of August.

The Slurpee Nation rewards program connects fans with music, games and movies. Through the online program, fans can cash in Slurpee Nation rewards points they accumulate with each drink purchase for free items such as DVD rentals, Slurpee gear, and other exclusive items and content.
