7-Eleven Launches Payments without PINS

HOUSTON -- 7-Eleven Inc.'s retail customers will be able to make payments to their wireless phone accounts without using PIN numbers, thanks to a partnership with PreCash Inc., an electronic cash transaction company. The stores will begin processing PreCash brand payments, starting with Sprint PCS payments.

"Sprint PCS PreCash cardholders now have the convenience of making payments to their wireless accounts at up to 5,300 participating 7-Eleven locations across the United States," said Calvin Williams, executive vice president of sales and marketing of PreCash Inc.

Instead of a traditional prepaid program, in which a disposable prepaid phone card with a specified number of minutes is purchased and loaded onto a wireless phone, PreCash offers Sprint PCS consumers an electronic payment service using the PreCash card. Now, customers can refill their account in any amount they choose without the use of
PINs. The transaction will post in minutes, allowing customers quick use of their wireless phones.

As an added convenience, PreCash offers both interactive voice recording and online store locator services. Customers simply enter their five-digit zip code on their wireless phone to locate the closest participating 7-Eleven store.

The PreCash card itself does not hold any value, so if the card is lost, funds and airtime purchased on the account are protected. The card is electronically linked to the customer's wireless phone number and will be used for the life of the wireless account.

"Providing customers with alternative payment options is part of our strategic vision at 7-Eleven," said Ron Hannah, category manager commission services for 7-Eleven Inc. "The partnership with PreCash expands our service offerings as well as provides convenient 7-Eleven payment locations for Sprint PCS customers."
